A Great day of visitors

Saturday was a beautiful day. We had the priviledge to open our home up to our new friends and family and introduce them to the litter. We couldn't be happier!

We wished we would have taken more pictures - we got so wrapped up in the moment - especially watching a very beautiful Mia interact with the litter!

Jodi had great fun with Orange boy, aka "Monkey"

why would we call him Monkey?

We can't forget Dean - but sadly no pictures!  It was an interesting day, hosting folks from a Veteran Police Sergeant to little Mia - it is always so interesting the people we get to know through the dogs that we would likely never meet otherwise.  Though the differences in background - the commonality in watching people interact with these toddling youngsters is amazing.  They bring us all to the same place!  As one said "it's impossible to pick them up without kissing them!"

We look forward to hosting the rest of our new family in the next week!

The secret power of Vizsla

As many of you now know, we've had more than our share of recent medical issues.  First with Janet's roading accident and most recently the tumor and my loss of vision one would think we'd be pretty down.  Though we have had our moments of self-pity, they have been surprisingly fleeting.  Why?  Here's my theory.

The secret truth - is two fold.

First - it's virtually impossible not to smile when a counter surfing tail wagging bundle of pure happiness is in your presence!  When I walk in even my bad eye can make out Hank's entire body wiggle from stem to stern like there could be no greater thrill than to see me again!  (This is basically when I go into the garage to run the door down and come right back in the house).

Hankster's - Whatya think Dad?  look

Then there's the full on lap scrunching snuggle!  Who needs a "as sold on TV" blanket with arms in it when there's a Vizsla close by!

Secondly - as great as the first is, the hidden beauty of being owned by Vizslas is the world of people that become true friends through the common love of the dogs.  We have received such an outpouring of love from our friends it's almost overwhelming.  We feel truly blessed in knowing the people we have come to know through our dogs.

So there you have it.  The secret is no longer secret.  The secret power of Vizsla is Love.

Friends - Part one of many!

So we've decided to brag about our Friends.  This will be a first installment, so if you're  not mentioned yet - don't worry!  It's in no order of importance - likely more order of who we can scrape up pictures of!

We've had dogs for decades, and have many old friends and many new friends since we've gotten into Vizslas.  I think we'll try to mix it up a bit!  So here goes!

Rodney and Joanie Michaelson - you're spotlighted!

I pinched this photo from Rod's blog.  You have no idea how many pictures of Bailey, Chloe and Rod I had to go through to finally find one of Rod and Joanie!  Now in Rod's defense, he does say it's a Vizsla blog at the top...

Rod's blog can be found at http://www.redbirddog.blogspot.com/

Janet and I first met Rod and Joanie a little over a year ago at the Kistler Ranch Vizsla Horseback trial put on by the Vizsla Club of Northern California.  We have a lot in common and got to know each other more when we all showed up in Portland at the same time for the TEVCO trial.  Since then, we have become fast friends and anyone who knows either Rod or Joanie knows what wonderful people they are!

We had Rod up for his first real pheasant hunt this past season on ours and neighboring farms.  That involves walking a lot, joking with friends and not shooting any birds!

Rod is much more eloquent in his blog's description of the day!

Rod - I promise this year we'll do better about getting some hunts in - ones where we get birds (not Bailey catching them for us!)

Thanks Rod and Joanie for being our friends!
