The Ups and Downs of Breeding Dogs

We had much anticipation with our breeding Nellie to Dakota.  We did pre-pregnancy exams with full blood panels, drove her 900 miles to Arizona where she spent a week in his company, drove back again and picked her up....

But it doesn't look like she's pregnant.  We were so thrilled with this potential breeding and the folks that we got to meet so anxiously awaiting their arrival.  This unfortunately happens.  The "downside" of breeding.

Ever hopeful, maybe next time!

2012 Planned Spring Breeding

We've decided to breed Nellie this spring.  Her first litter has had wonderful success and at three years old have undergone health testing with very good results.  With this information, we're confident this litter should produce high quality dogs.

The sire we have chosen is FC/AFC Viesoo's Desert Dakota.
We anticipate pups should be whelped the beginning of April, probably around Easter Weekend 2012.  We're very excited!  Yesterday Nellie went to the Vet for her pre-pregnancy exam and is in perfect health.

If you'd like to see a sample pedigree, (I can't figure out how to put one on the blog) we love a site - http://www.vizslapedigrees.com/  Type Willowynd in the search box and Nellie will be one of the options.  Clik on her then a link that says Search for Potential Mates.  To Narrow the list, you can select filters of Excellent for OFA Hips and Normal for Thyroid then scroll down to find Viesoo's Desert Dakota.  Clik the link for potential offspring and voila!  It's a great site and wonderful resource.

If Interested in a pup from this litter, please contact us - there is already a list started, so...

Stay tuned!  We'll update the blog as things happen!
